How does the process work?
Just bring us your vehicle, and we'll help you pick the selling price. We photograph your vehicle so it looks its best for potential buyers. We then list it for sale on our website and major vehicle buying websites. In addition, we stage it for sale at our store, which is located in a high-traffic retail area. We manage buyer inquiries 24x7, conduct test drives, collect payment safely from the buyer, and do all the DMV paperwork. Once your vehicle sells, we cut you a check.
How long will it take to sell my car?
Every situation is different, as pricing, condition, and supply of similar vehicles all impact the sales process, but the typical U-Drive Motors vehicle sells in about 30 days. We promote all vehicles aggressively nationwide, follow up on buyer questions 24x7, and offer easy financing options, insuring your vehicle sells as quickly as possible.
How do you help me price my car?
We are experts at pricing vehicles and are here to help you price competitively. We'll make a recommendation based on real-time sales listings for similar vehicles, auction sales data, and trusted vehicle pricing sources like NADA and KBB.
If I have a loan or lease, can you still sell my car?
Of course! Many of our sellers lease or have outstanding loans on their vehicles, which is one of the reasons they are drawn to our service. We help them obtain more value for their vehicle to pay off their loan or lease and hopefully a little leftover. Once we sell your vehicle, we will pay the lease or lien off directly and write you a check for any difference.
Do I have to leave my car with you?
Yes, we ask that you leave your vehicle with us because it meaningfully increases your chances of a successful sale. Our online marketing efforts will drive nationwide exposure for your vehicle, but our retail store is in a high traffic area that receives a significant number of local walk-in customers. Having your vehicle available for sale on the lot makes it easy for prospects to view and test drive, maximizing your sale opportunities.
What are your fees?
We take an up-front listing fee of $149, which covers the work we do to prepare and market your vehicle for sale. Vehicle history report, professional photographs, ad copywriting, and various online classified listings included. After we sell your vehicle, we take a $599 success fee directly from the sales proceeds. Our incentives are completely aligned: If we don't sell your car, we don't get paid a success fee!
Why do you use a flat-fee structure?
A flat-fee drives two important behaviors: (1) it ensures that U-Drive Motors is equally motivated to sell ANY of the vehicles consigned regardless of price so that all customers are treated equally; and (2) it ensures a positive buying experience since we have no incentive to push a certain vehicle on a buyer. In addition, U-Drive Motors sellers make more than wholesale trade-in prices regardless of the cost of the vehicle, and we designed our fee to be a reasonable portion of the value added.
What should I bring?
To get started, we will need a copy of driver's license for all registered owners, current registration, proof of insurance, title (or lienholder information, if applicable), all keys/ fobs, and any available service records.
